LOT 435 18th cen. Chippendale style longcase clock, signed Kirkham Bolton, with moon phase, mahog. cased. A fine 18th century Chippendale style and period long case clock with unusual movement, being a dead beat escapement with a sweep second hand, also calendar hand, the four hands running from the central shaft, designed as a regulator. Also equipped with a moon phase. The silvered chapter ring on a brass face plate with gilded spandrels, the arched dial with the painted moon phase and a silvered band inscribed "I am working while you are sleeping" and signed Kirkham-Bolton (Lancashire). The mahogany case of excellent quality, standing on ogee bracket feet, the bottom panel and door panel of figured flame mahogany veneer on pine, the trunk with fluted column corners with brass capitals. The bonnet also with columns and brass capitals with open fret work above the dial, with a scrolled arch pediment capped with brass bosses and surmounted by three wooden finials tipped with gilt metal flames.
